Over the coming months the majority of visitors to the 2010 Ryder Cup will be notified of their ticket allocation and wish to book accommodation. Meanwhile Clearvewe is already receiving a large number of enquiries, largely as a result of the 1200 volunteers who require accommodation near to the Park and Ride facility being based at Usk showground. Enquiries are generally from mature couples looking for rooms, preferably en-suite and for the whole week period rather that just the four nights of the competition. This kind of visitor would prefer accommodation that is close to the park and ride, home from home and welcoming, rather than a Cardiff or Bristol based corporate hotel at grossly inflated prices.

Clearvewe B&B has a website presence that is one of the most visible in the Usk area and so is attracting enquiries. As well as high search engine rankings, the quality and attraction of any website is essential to successfully market your accommodation. Clearvewe’s website has been enhanced to present additional accommodation for the Ryder Cup.

Tariffs

This we see as ‘individual’ and offer guidance; setting the right tariff for your accommodation is going to be key and we have knowledge and experience on which to base any calculation. Rates for rooms do vary enormously, it seems that rooms for the week period of the Ryder Cup will sell for between £500 - £1400 depending on the location, quality and level of facilities. Rates for whole properties depend on number of bedrooms, house location, size and the quality of the amenities. We believe prices of between £80 and £180 per person per are achievable. For example a semi-detached house with 3 double bedrooms in Usk may attract between £3000 - £6000. Even though it may seem simpler, more attractive to offer a whole property, accommodation needs to fit the needs of potential guests. Given the nature of enquiries we have received to date, splitting a property into seperate offer of rooms with en-suite or with shared bathroom facilities is more likely to fit the needs of guests making enquiries and secure bookings.

Our charges

We charge a one off listing fee of £20 per room and £55 per property for advertising and marketing. If you would like us to visit your property and take photographs to put online an additional cost of £45 is charged. A commission of 15% is charged for which we, receive and handle all enquiries, distribute terms and conditions for both you and the client, booking forms, directions and handling of all payments for you. FAQ’s for accommodation owners

Who should we choose to rent our property?
There are a number of agencies offering services and will each of which will have differing approaches and benefits. In terms of Clearvewe, we already operate with rooms as a Wales Tourist Board, 4 Star rated B&B and are experienced with contracts for rent of whole self catered property.  This means we are well placed to offer a friendly and professional service with peace of mind for both guests and accommodation providers in Usk and surrounding villages.  Clearvewe’s existing web presence is highly ranked in search engines and is already generating a high level of enquiry. This site has been extended to enable presentation of other rooms and properties for the Ryder Cup.

What would we have to do to rent our room or property?

 Would we need to provide any services during the rental period?

Generally guests would meet their own transport and sustenance requirements. Accommodation providers should provide guests with a telephone number to contact in case a problem arises.

Would I have to take out insurance?

Accommodation providers should check their existing policies. We recommend that 3rd party liability insurance is in place in all cases.  Clearvewe can introduce accommodation providers to underwriters able to assist in providing buildings, contents and third party liability cover.

Will my offer of accommodation be taken up?

We are seeing good demand for en-suite rooms offered at a competitive rate. Furthermore Usk is one of the designated Park and Ride areas and so many course marshalls and service staff are very keen to find accommodation close to the park and ride.

When should we offer our accommodation?

Enquiries are already being received from individuals and couples who know they are involved as marshall or ancillary staff and they are keen to secure suitable accommodation, particularly in the Usk area.

Spectators are also beginning to make enquiries with a view to confirming their bookings after notification of their ticket allocations in August 09. It is essential to have room or property options ready as soon as possible to be able to market effectively and confirm bookings. 

What is required of an accommodation provider?

Any accommodation must be cleaned throughout with all advertised features available and beds made up with clean linen and bedding.  It is recommended that any valuables and treasured possessions should be stored away.
